Clare Stars Shine In Mary I Triumph Of Fitzgibbon Cup Today

A number of Clare’s intercounty stars faced off against each other this afternoon in the Fitzgibbon Cup final.

Mary Immaculate College claimed the college hurling title, for the first time since 2017, in a pulsating game with their Treaty counterpart’s University of Limerick this afternoon.

Jamie Wall’s side, aided by a very strong wind, exploded out of the blocks in the final against their crosstown rivals.

UL, captained by Mark Rodgers, were looking for their third consecutive title today and managed to claw back and take the lead in the second half.

Shane Meehan and Diarmuid Ryan were two notable players in Mary’s I resurgence to notch ahead late in the game where they remained.

It finished in Abbeydorney Mary I 2-14 UL 1-15.
