Clare have secured their place in Division Two of the National Football League for 2019.

Colm Collins side eased past the challenge of Louth in Cusack Park winning by 3-12 to 1-11.

The Banner got off to the perfect start with Jamie Malone finding the back of the net after a mere 11 seconds following a quick Gary Brennan free.

Keelan Sexton palmed Clare’s second goal to the net on the 30 minute mark while Kieran Malone billowed the net just before the break to send his side to the dressing room 3-7 to 0-6 ahead.

The pace understandably dropped in the second half as Louth looked to close the gap and they found the net themselves just after the restart but in truth, they never threatened their hosts lead.

The result sees Clare guaranteed their place in the second tier for 2019, with Cavan’s late win over Tipperary seeing them promoted along with Roscommon who got the better of Cork.

Meath’s win over Down means the games postponed 7 days ago will go ahead next weekend but Clare have completed their program of fixtures.

Mayo hit a late point to draw with Donegal in a result that sees the Ulster men drop down to Division Two along with Kildare.

Armagh are promoted from Division Three along with Fermanagh who beat Longford to secure promotion.
