A ten point victory doesn’t tell the full story however, Clare were pushed to extra time by the model county after a spirited performance for the opposition in the dying minutes of the second half of normal time.

Clare led by six points at half time, and with six minutes of normal time on the clock, had a five point advantage, but Liam Dunne’s charges hit two points and a Jack Guiney last gasp goal forced it to extra time.

Clare showed their character in the opening half of extra time however going eight points up, substitute Cathal McInerney with a brace of goals, by the final whistle it was a ten point victory for the banner men.
