Avenue overcame Shannon Town 4-0 this morning to close the gap to the leaders to two points, with a winner takes all showdown between the top two to come over the next few weeks.
Elsewhere, Bridge United beat Shannon Olympic 5-0, Lifford were 1-0 winners over Mountshannon while Sporting Ennistymon and Ennis Town played out a 3-3 draw.
