Several Clare players face late fitness tests ahead of Sunday’s opening league game with Waterford.

Martin Mc Mahon,Gordon Kelly,Podge Mc Mahon, Chris Dixon and Conor Talty are all major doubts for the clash with the Deise which now appears likely to go ahead in  Miltown Malbay  rather than Cusack Park.

The Clare county board are set to make a final decison later this evening.

Waterford will be without star forward Gary Hurney who is suspended for the game while vice captain Shane Briggs and Tommy Prendergast are named in  the  Waterford team but are doubts for the match.

Clare captain Gary Brennan says the team is conscious of their last competive game where they left a lead slip agsint Limerick in the dying stages of the Mc Grath cup earlier this month
