Clare miss out on promotion in Cusack park

Clare’s hopes of promotion from division four of the football league are over after a 1-13 to 0-10 loss to Limerick in Cusack park.

The visitors led by 0-6 to 0-4 at half time having capitalised on wind advantage in  the opening 35 minutes

Clare scored the opening two points of the second half  however the game changed in the 54th minute when David Tubridy’s penalty was saved and Limerick then went on to extend their advantage with Ian Ryan’s late goal sealing their promotion and place in the league final in Croke Park.

They will face Offaly who secured their own promotion by beating Tipperary by 2-11 to 1-8.
