Stephen Leigh, who is particularly known for his work with basketball teams throughout the county, is to receive an honour from Minister Michael Ring at the National Awards to Volunteers in Irish Sport

The event celebrates the contribution of the 500,000 people who volunteer in Irish sport each year, with winners chosen by a panel chaired by former Olympic Champion Ronnie Delaney.

As well as Stephen, other winners include former Tipperary All Ireland winning manager Liam Sheedy, and Oliver O’Neill, father of boxer Darren O’Neill who represented Ireland at the London Olympics.
