Clare Make Use Of New Rules In First Win Under Peter Keane

Clare’s footballers used the new FRC rules to their advantage in registering a win in their first outing of 2025.

A 2-14 to 1-10 win over Limerick in a challenge game saw new manager Peter Keane run the rule over 23 players on the day, including debuts for the likes of Colm Walsh O’Loughlen, Darragh Burns and Evan Cahill.

Emmet McMahon raised two of the new red flags for the Banner as he twice found the range from outside the new 40 metre arc, while Clare were also punished twice for not keeping three players in the attacking half of the pitch.

Keane says while the new rules are well intentioned, he feels too many have been introduced together
