Clare have lost their opening game in this year’s national football league,suffering a 1-9 to 0-11 points loss to Waterford in Miltown Malbay.

Clare led at the break against the wind by 0-07 to 0-5 but Waterford’s goal after 48 minutes from Darren Guiry ultimately proved the difference between the sides as Clare could not find a way back into the game.
