Clare are to appeal the red card handed to Tony Kelly during Saturday night’s loss to Tipperary.
The Ballyea man was sent off in the second half of the contest following a challenge on Padraic Maher.
However, the decision by referee Colm Lyons has been criticised as harsh by many pundits.
The straight red would have seen the former Hurler of the Year sidelined for Sunday’s visit of Kilkenny to Ennis, but Clare will now hope to ward off any suspension through this appeal.
A meeting of the Central Hearings Committee is due to discuss the matter tomorrow night.
