Clare took on Louth in the final round of the TG4 Ladies Intermediate Football Championship knowing the winner would top group B.
The Wee County started the brighter with Louth’s Aoife Hannigan finding the back of Michaela Glynn’s net after just three minutes.
However after the early setback Evan Talty’s side had their purple patch outscoring their opponents by 1-6 to 0-01 until the twentieth minute thanks to contributions from Fidelma Marrinan, Amy Sexton, Catríona Callinan, Chloe Moloney, Niamh O’Dea and Roisín Considine.
The Half time score line read Clare 1-8 to Louth’s 1-4.
On the restart Louth immediately attacked the deficit and the decisive score came sixteen minutes into the second half when a long range Louth free deceived the Banner defence and found its way to the back of the net.
Louth Maintained their advantage all the way to the finish. It ended in Cusack Park Louth 2-08 to Clare’s 1-10.
The Result means the Banner County finish second in group and will now face Longford in the All Ireland Quarter Final on Sunday June 26th with further fixture details to be confirmed
