Graham Shine has been appointed as the new manager of the Clare ladies footballers
The Kerry native takes over from Wayne Freeman in the role, having worked in the backroom team for the 2024 season.
He is joined in his management team by Eoin Murray, David O’Brien, and Emma O’Driscoll, with Edel Conway continuing as the liaison officer.
The appointment is for an initial two-year period, with an option of a third, and follows a recent call for applications and interview process to lead the Clare Ladies flagship Team.
Board Chairman Sean Lenihan advised that there were a number of applicants for the post from both within and outside the County and thanked the unsuccessful candidates for their interest in the position. He outlined Graham’s extensive experience at Club and County level over many years and wished him and his backroom team well over the next couple of years starting soon with preparation for Clare’s return to Division 2 of the National Football League commencing in mid January.
A qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor, Graham was part of former Manager Wayne Freeman’s Backroom Team last year so has the added benefit of knowing the panel of players involved here to date. Following his ratification at last month’s County Board Meeting, Graham has hit the ground running already by attending a number of the more recent Intermediate and Senior Team Club Championship matches.
Impressing the selection committee with his plans and ambitions for the year ahead, Graham stated “It’s an incredible honour for me to be appointed to the role of Manager of the Clare LGFA Adult Team. I am absolutely thrilled to be given the chance to work with such a talented and driven group of players and can’t wait to take up the challenge of working hard and bringing future success to Clare Ladies”.
