Wayne Freeman’s charges have firmly got their promotion ambitions back on track following victory over Down in the Ladies National Football League at Cusack Park this afternoon.

The Banner led by 0-05 to 0-00 at the interval with Points from Fidelma Marrinan, Chloe Moloney, Megan Downes and a brace from Ciara McCarthy representing Clare’s scoring spread in the opening half.

Clare had to withstand a staunch second half fightback from the Ulster women to hold on for the win, with a point blank save from netminder Amy Lenihan on the restart proving vital.
