Clare Hurler Believes Minor Championship Should Not Be Changed

One of the members of the Clare side who reached the Munster and All Ireland Minor final in 2011 believes the competition is vital for player development.

Aaron Cunningham's comments come after the GAA yesterday released their discussion paper for player burnout and overtraining.

There are also calls to change the minor grade from under 18 to under 17, but the Wolfe Tones man believes that it is vital that the youth structure is maintained.

Cunningham says that Clare's success is down to the work done underage, and changing the age in the minor championship could hinder the progress made.

Other motions include the abolition of the football league semi finals and the moving back of the All Ireland hurling final to the last Sunday of August.

Aaron says this would have a huge benefit to the club game.
