Waterford opened the scoring, with two pointed frees from Pauric Mahoney, Podge Collins then opened the scoring for the banner men, and from there it was Clare on the mark, with first half goals from Pat Donnellan, Podge Collins, Shane O'Donnell and Peter Duggan.

It was the 32nd minute before the Deise registered their third score, and by the half time whistle, it was over as a contest at 4-15 to 0-04.

Waterford dominated scoreboard action in the second half but their deficit was far too much to work back and it ended in a 13 point victory for the All Ireland champions.

Shane O'Donnell scored his second goal and Clare fifth in the second half, and Former Clare All star and Clare FM Analyst Niall Gilligan says Waterford were too slow to adapt to the threat he posed in front of goal.

Next up it’s Galway in Cusack Park next Sunday, the Tribesmen overcame Tipperary in Salthill this afternoon, that finished 3-16 to 1-19.

In Division 1B, Cork beat Antrim 0-18 to 1-12, Offaly and Limerick played out a draw at O’Connor Park with 2-15 a piece, while Wexford overcame Laois 2-21 to 1-18.
