Clare get Division Three Football League campaign back on track

A late goal from Clare captain Gary Brennan helped his side to a 1-14 to 0-11 win over Limerick.

David Tubridy was the man who opened the scoring with two points inside the opening six minutes.

Shane McGrath then hit the target to make it Clare 0-3 Limerick 0-0 after 10 minutes.

Limerick goalkeeper Brian Scanlon pointed a "45 to cut the gap but Eoin Cleary restored the three point lead.

Seanie Buckley landed a great score from long range to make it double scores, before Sean Collins did likewise to make it Clare 0-5 Limerick 0-2 midway through the half.

Tubridys third point put Clare further clear, while Eoin Cleary made it 0-7 to 0-2 with 25 minutes on the clock.

It was Tubridy who struck once more to give Clare a 6 point lead, and when he landed another from a "45, it was Clare 0-9 Limerick 0-2.

Ian Ryan closed the scoring in the opening half to leave the Banner six points clear at the break.

Clare opened the scoring after the break through Eoin Cleary, Shane McGrath and David Tubridy to go into a 9 point lead.

Limerick then hit two answered before Shane McGrath and Sean Collins responded to leave it Clare 0-14 Limerick 0-5.

Another four unanswered scores for Limerick left five between them with as many minutes to play.

Captain Gary Brennan then pounced for the games only goal getting on the end of a pass from Shane McGrath to end that momentum.

Ian Ryan closed out the scoring with two frees but it was mere consolation as Clare closed out the 6 point win.

Elsewhere in Division 3, Kildare beat Longford, Offaly edged out Sligo & Tipperary and Westmeath shared the spoils.
