2016 has gotten off to a positive start for both the Clare senior hurlers and footballers this afternoon.
A late goal from Shane O'Donnell saw the hurlers beating Cork 1-14 to 0-14 in the new Munster Hurling League.
Clare led 0-8 to 0-6 at the break with captain Tony Kelly dominating proceedings in the opening half.
That lead became four after the restart before the Rebels hit five unanswered points to take the lead.
O'Donnell then came off the bench to grab that all important green flag.
Next up for Davy Fitzgerald's side is a meeting with Kerry in 10 days time.
There was also late drama for the footballers as Kieran Malone on his senior debut crashed home a late goal to see Clare beating Tipperary by 1-10 to 1-9 in the opening round of the McGrath Cup.
Colm Collins side trailed by two points as the game entered injury time but Malone, playing on his home patch in Miltown, ensured a winning start to the New year.
Clare now travel to Fitzgerald Stadium next Sunday to take on Kerry. A win there would see Clare into the final.
