Clare and Galway will meet again in a Semi-Final replay after a stunning first-half recovery saw the Banner stay in the game.

Galway were the dominant side of the opening twenty minutes as they raced into a 1-7 to one point lead as their superior physicality proved the difference.

Clare soon came back into the game, however and brilliantly recovered to just a four point deficit by the time the half time whistle was blown.

The second half was a much tighter affair as Clare drew level with the Tribesmen, but as the sides traded scores Clare couldn’t bring themselves into the lead.

Eventually, the full time whistle sounded and heralded extra time.

Galway had the measure of the first part of extra time and led by two points at the half way point.

It was Aaron Shanagher, returning from injury who turned the play for the Banner and put his side into the lead for the first time in eighty minutes when he caught the ball and hit the back of the Galway net.

Clare’s two point lead was shortly recovered and it stayed level at 1-29 as the game spilled into injury time.

In the end, it was Jason McCarthy who kept Clare in the race when the referee called time to end the game and send the sides to a replay.

Full time score was 1-30 apiece.
