Clare GAA confirm delay to Cusack Park upgrade works

The chairman of the Clare County Board has confirmed the start date for works on the County Grounds has been postponed.

Works were due to begin today on a €2.3 million upgrade of Cusack Park, which will see the roof and seating on the stand replaced, new dressing rooms installed and new turnstiles and access points.

The project is expected to take 8 months to bring to completion, and would see the grounds unavailable for use during construction.

Clare's U21 hurlers begin the defence of their Munster and All Ireland titles on July 15th, with the board unwilling to compromise potential home advantage for that clash.

Cork and Waterford meet in the Munster Semi Quarter Final on Wednesday evening, where a win for the Deise would set up a Cusack Park showdown with the Banner.

It also means if Clare's hurlers or footballers were handed a home draw in the All Ireland Qualifiers, Cusack Park would be available to host the game.
