GAA action is returning to the banner county this weekend albeit behind closed doors.
Fans can still keep up with the action however as Clare FM will broadcast commentary from a number of matches and the county board is launching a pay-per-view streaming service, Clare GAA TV.
It’s 269 days since the last senior GAA Championship action in Clare, last year’s Football Final replay.
But the wait for action to return has felt much, much longer.
It’s nearly at an end, though, with the county hurling championship starting this Friday evening even though games will have a different look, as they take place behind closed doors.
Clare FM’s Syl O’Connor says fans will be disappointed not to be at matches but hopes most will be understanding of the reasons why.
Clare FM will carry four live commentaries this weekend, with expert analysis coming from the likes of Davy Fitzgerald, Tommy Guilfoyle and Ger O’Loughlin.
Those commentaries will also be heard on Clare GAA’s online pay-per-view streaming services.
All matches will be available, with those games which are being broadcast live costing fans €7.80.
Today, Clare County Board Chairman Joe Cooney said he backs calls for crowd limits to be increased, to allow some fans in, and expressed hopes that in the meantime, both Clare FM’s coverage and the streaming service will keep fans connected with the games
He also said players are keen to return to action.
