Clare Footballers Top Division Four

Clare manager Colm Collins is already looking forward to a second top-of-the-table encounter in the space of a week, following his side's strong performance against Wicklow.

The Banner ran out 2-13 to 1-08 winners at a blustery Cusack Park, with goals in either half coming from Gary and Shane Brennan.

Clare were helped by the sixth minute dismissal of Wicklow captain Leighton Glynn, and while Collins says there's plenty to work on, he admits he's pleased with the performance.

After four games, Clare now top Division 4 with seven points, two ahead of Leitrim, and Sunday's opponents Tipperary.

In Division One, meanwhile, there were wins for Mayo over Kerry, for Tyrone against Kildare and for Derry against Westmeath.

Cork stay top after their win against Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday night.
