Clare’s footballers suffered a disappointing defeat to Down in Newry this afternoon.
Down hit the ground running in the National Football League Division Three clash, with an early goal coming from defender Ceilum Doherty.
This left Clare chasing the Mournemen for the remainder of the game and an Odhran Murdock second-half penalty ensured it would be the Ulster side who would progress to the upper tier of the competition.
