Clare’s footballers are facing into the All Ireland Qualifiers after yesterday’s Munster Championship loss to Cork.
Nine points separated the sides at full-time at Cusack Park, but Clare’s battling performance impressed many. Despite falling behind 0-7 to 0-0 early on, the Banner brought this back to two in the first half, only for Daniel Goulding to score a crucial Cork goal.
And while Gary Brennan scored a goal in the second half, Clare were ultimately beaten 1-20 to 1-11.
Their next outing will be in round 2 of the Qualifiers, likely on July 6th.
Speaking after the game, Cooraclare forward Rory Donnelly said the players weren’t happy despite the credible performance.
There was also disappointment in the Junior Championship encounter between the sides, as Cork ran out 0-18 to 0-09 winners.
