Clare Edge Past Limerick

It may have taken almost three hours of hurling, but Clare have finally seen off Limerick to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Waterford Crystal Cup.

The Banner beat Limerick in the sides’ Quarter-Final replay at the Gaelic Grounds last night, 2-13 to 1-15.

Both of Clare’s goals came in the first half, courtesy of Tony Carmody and Ross Horan, and Davy Fitzgerald’s men led 2-6 to 0-10 at the break.

Despite this though, the sides were level in the closing moments until a Brian Donnelan point in additional time secured the win for Clare.

The result sets up an early return to Waterford for Fitzgerald, as the sides will now meet this Sunday for a spot in the Waterford Crystal Cup Final.

That match will be held at Walsh Park this Sunday at 2:00.

Meanwhile, John Mullane will be available for Waterford’s Munster Championship clash with Clare in June, despite reports that he was retiring from inter-county hurling.

The four-time All Star has now confirmed that he is merely taking a six-week break.
