Clare Dogs Into Second Round Of Kirby Memorial Stake

All three Clare-owned greyhounds taking part in the richest puppy stake in the world have made it through to the second round of the competition.

Ennis’ Noel Hehir kennelled Coolavanny Lilly through Saturday night’s Con & Annie Kirby first round heats in a time of 28.60, finishing a length and a half behind one of the overall favourites, Fabulous Azurra.

Flyers Iniesta, of Patsy Fitzgerald in Kilrush, came third in the same heat that Rockalong Rocket finished runner up in – Rocket belongs to Michael McNamara in Tulla.

All three dogs are through to the last 48 of the competition, which has a prize fund of €150,000 on offer.
