A late Donegal goal broke Clare hearts in the Kennedy Bowl quarter-final. It looked as if this game would be decided by penalties but Donegal hit the back of the Clare net with just three minutes remaining in the contest to book their place in the semi-finals while simultaneously ending Clare’s participation in the Kennedy Bowl.

Prior to this meeting, Donegal picked up wins over Cork and Wicklow as they scored four goals in both games. Limerick Desmond proved too strong for the Northern side in their opening group match with just a goal between the sides. The fact that Clare limited the Donegal outfit to one goal was impressive but they will still be heartbroken with the result.

As they look back on an eventful year which saw a visit to the Leicester City academy, the Clare management team will be proud of their charges for their efforts and they will be hopeful that a few players will continue to progress in their soccer careers.

Donegal now play Inishowen in what promises to be a tense, tight affair. The other semi-final sees the pairing of Wexford vs Cavan/Monaghan. Clare now face Limerick District in a losers quarter-final on Thursday at 12:30 and they will still compete to try and finish as the eleventh placed team.
