The committee tasked with developing a five year strategic plan for Clare GAA will address club delegates at next months meeting.

It’s after the nine-person panel was ratified by delegates at last night’s County Board meeting.

Eire Óg’s motion to form a committee to develop a strategic plan for Clare GAA was unanimously accepted in February’s County Board meeting – and last night the nine people who have taken up that task was confirmed.

Current County Board vice-chairman Kieran Keating will represent Clare GAA on the group, alongside eight Clare business people – Enda Connolly, Eoin Corry, Eoin Doohan, Roisin Glynn, Conor Gilligan, Colin Kelly, Mark O’Connell and Enda O’Flaherty.

The delegates were also informed by the Eire Og Chairperson that former Davy CEO Tony Garry – who had formerly been linked with a place on the panel – had stood aside for personal reasons.

Eire Og also explained that as the new group has been introduced to the County Board executive, the club will now stand back – and only act as a guardian to ensure the work continues without issue.

Rumours on social media and both local and national media attention of the workings of Clare GAA was also discussed, where several delegates urged for the relaxation of some commentary online now that a group has been ratified to forge a path forward.

The Tulla delegate also raised national media coverage of the funding raised by the Clare Hurling Supporters Club and asked that the County Board engage their auditor to review the accounts – a proposal which went unanswered.

A decision on the conclusion of last year’s Championships or the holding of U-19 or U-21 games was delayed until next month’s meeting in the hopes that there will be more clarity on the GAA restrictions.
