A dominant second half display saw Colm Collins men outscore the visitors to Cusack Park by 0-13 to 1-2 in the second period.

Pat Burke and Shane McGrath were Clare's scorers in chief, contributing 0-5 each, while there were 8 Clare players who got on the scoresheet in total.

At half time, Sligo led by 0-11 to 0-9 having played with the aid of a considerable breeze, and a brilliant save from Clare goalkeeper Joe Hayes early in the second half kept Niall Carews side at bay.

That seemed to spur the Banner into life, and from there they completely took over, scoring some excellent points at will.

A late goal from Adrian Marren for Sligo gave an element of respectability to the scoreboard, but Clare ran out deserving six point winners.

Up next for Colm Collins side is a meeting with Tipperary in Semple Stadium next Saturday afternoon.

Armagh top Division Three on points difference following their 2-16 to 1-6 defeat of Limerick.

Fermanagh are just on their shoulders after their 2-9 to 0-11 victory over Tipperary at Brewster Park.

Wexford lost again, this time a 1-16 to 1-10 defeat at the hands of Louth.
