Clare Camogie – Kilmaley 3-8 Clooney/Quin 0-7

This Div 2 League round three game was played on Saturday evening in Clooney with terrible weather conditions making it extremely difficult for camogie. Both sides have to be commended for their efforts.

Caoimhe Carmody was first to register a point for Kilmaley making a great run from midfield and followed by with another from a 45m free inside first 10 minutes.

Orla Duggan also putting over 2 further points from placed balls. Lisa Kennedy and Sarah Ni Ceallaigh putting in super performances in defence and Caoimhe Carmody and Megan White at midfield working extremely well delivering a great supply of ball into the forward line.

Leona Grace clearing her line well to get ball to Sarah Ni Ceallaigh with a super clearance to Niamh O’Dea inside fifteen minutes made a great run to put the ball in the back of the net.

Kilmaley kept up the pressure with Niamh O’Dea winning possession and making another of her trademark runs delivered the ball into the square where Fia Coote finished brilliantly to raise another green flag. Clooney continued to put pressure on with Orla Duggan putting two more points followed up with No 10/no 12 pointing also.

Niamh O’Dea registered another two points on the board, Kilmaley finished this first half with another free from Niamh O’Dea and Ashling Cahill getting a touch on it for another goal leaving half time score Kilmaley 3-4 to Clooney 0-6.

The second half was much closer as conditions worsened, Clooney kept the pressure on all the way through, but Kilmaley were never going to relinguish their 7point lead at half time and getting possession from the thrown in Niamh O’Dea at centre forward put them further ahead with another point.

Clooney kept the pressure on all the way through, but Kilmaley dominated the second half Ashling Cahill and Caoimhe Carmody getting a point each with Niamh O’Dea from free putting another point on the board. Clooney finished the second half with their only score of a point from a free.

Kilmaley will be happy with their performance and efforts throughout the field. Others who impressed were Sarah Reidy, Isobel Killeen and Leona Grace.
