Clare’s Camogie Championship campaign came to an end with defeat to Galway in Cusack Park on Saturday evening.

Both team saw the white flag eleven times, but it was a Rebecca Hennelly penalty and a soft goal in the second half which gave Galway an advantage over the Banner at full time.

Clare Captain Chloe Morey came close to equaling the sides as the final whistle loomed but a powerful shot from nearer mid-field was blocked by Sarah Healy.

Full time in the County Grounds was 2-11 to 0-11 in favour of the Tribes, who will now move on to the knock-out stages.

Clare’s season saw them lose to Dublin in the opening round, followed by victory over Waterford and a draw with Champions Kilkenny last time out.
