Clare Boxers Lose Out At National Finals

There was disappointment for two Ennis boxers in pursuit of national titles in Dublin last night.

Patrick Donovan, of the Our Lady of Lourdes club, lost out to defending welterweight champion Kieran Molloy, after a pulsating all southpaw battle at the National Stadium.

Martin Keenan was unlucky to lose against Dean Gardiner, who won his fourth Irish Elite crown in the super heavy class .

Keenan started well but took a count versus the Clonmel Boxing Club man in the final of the 2019 Championships.

Meanwhile there was disappointment too for East Clareman Sam Slater at the mixed martial arts Bellator Card at the Three Arena last night.

Slater, from Tuamgraney, was defeated by Chris Duncan via a technical knockout in Round 1.
