Clare’s European Cross Country championship athletes have returned very different reflections on their respective events in Serbia yesterday.
16 year old Ennis Track runner Kevin Mulcaire admits competing in his first Junior Mens event at this level was a massive learning curve.
He finished 85th out of 200 runners, and says the step up in quality was a shock to the system with so many runners ahead of him during the race, pushing him out too early.
Meelicks Amy O’Donoghue says she achieved her personal goal with her finish in the Womens Junior event in Serbia.
The Emerald AC athlete had surgery on a foot injury as recently as July, and was competing in just her fourth event on her return.
The 19 year old was the second member of the Irish team home, and 58th overall.
O’Donoghue says staying injury free after the event is also another massive boost in her development.
