Clare’s Chris Bryan will swim at the FINA World Open Water Championships in Barcelona today.
Competitors will have to swim inside a 2.5 kilometre circuit in the Barcelona harbour venue.
Shannon Swimmer Chris Bryan travelled straight to Barcelona from the World University Games in Russia where he finished 7th overall last Wednesday.
The 23 year old was 33rd in the 10K race at the last FINA Open Water Swimming Championships in Shanghai in 2011.
There will be 66 starters for the race today, amongst them the 2012 Olympic 10K Gold Medallist and the 2011 World Champion.
Bryan has competed in a number of events in preparation for the World Championships.
He won the Portuguese National 10K Open in May, he then travelled to Barcelona to race at the World Championship site, for a test event in the same venue as today’s race in June, where he finished 5th overall.
The FINA World Championship Open Water 10K Race will begin at 11am Irish time.
