Chelsea didn’t waste much time getting rid of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian was sacked shortly following Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season.
Speaking straight after the game at Goodison Park, Ancelotti didn’t seem aware he was about to lose his job:
Birmingham and Blackpool were both relegated from the top flight.
Blackpool lost 4-2 away to Champions Manchester United.
Carling Cup winners, Birmingham were beaten 2-1 at Spurs.
Wigan secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win away to Stoke.
Wolves stayed up despite a 3-2 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Blackburn.
Elsewhere Manchester City secured third place with a 2-0 win over Bolton while Arsenal drew 2-2 away to Fulham.
There were also wins for Aston Villa and Sunderland while Newcastle and West Brom drew.
