Stephen Ireland is expected to be fit for the Potters after a knee injury while Didier Drogba and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois should be available for the Blues.

Stoke have had some big wins this season and manager Mark Hughes is urging his side to be inspired by their recent victory against Arsenal.

Meanwhile ex Liverpool captain Phil Thompson says his old side deserved their 2-all draw with Arsenal at Anfield yesterday.

The hosts were 2-1 down late in the game when Martin Skrtel equalised in injury time.

Thompson says after a tough time Brendan Rodgers side are improving.
