Chelsea ease their way into next round of FA cup

Holders Chelsea eased their way into the fourth round of the FA cup with a 5-1 win away to Southampton.

Demba Ba scored a goal in each half on his Chelsea debut while Victor Moses, Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard were also on target.

QPR and West Brom drew 1-1 at Loftus Road – Kieran Dyer cancelled out a Shane Long goal.

Elsewhere today Manchester City beat Watford 3-0 at the Etihad thanks to goals from Tevez, Barry and Lopes.

Tottenham were also 3-0 winners at home to Coventry – Dempsey scored two while Bale was also on target.

Aston Villa came from a goal down to beat Ipswich 2-1.

Reading won 3-1 away to League One, Crawley Town – Noel Hunt got the second.

Norwich beat Peterborough United 3-0.

Sunderland were 2-0 down away to Bolton but came back to rescue a 2-2 draw and earn a replay.

Stoke drew 0-0 away to Championship side Crystal Palace.

It finished 1-1 between Fulham and Blackpool

and it was also 1-1 in the Wigan and Bournemouth match.

Newcastle became the first Premier League team to exit the competition when they lost 2-0 away to Championship side Brighton.

Two non-league sides pulled off the biggest upsets of the day.

Macclesfield beat Championship leaders Cardiff 2-1, while Luton edged out Wolves 1-0.
