A charity cycle will take place tomorrow (Saturday 29th August) in memory of former Clare Soccer League Chairman, Frankie Healy from Kilmaley who died earlier this year.
The 70-kilometre will see participants cycle to and from the Kilmaley Inn via Cree, Doonbeg, Spanish Point and Miltown Malbay.
Proceeds raised by the memorial cycle, which gets underway at midday, will go to Clare Crusaders and Kilmaley Daycare Health Centre.

Frank Healy was one of the founder members of the Clare Schoolboys League in 1986 and was elected the League’s first Chairman. Amongst other things, Frankie oversaw fundraising efforts on behalf of the Schoolboys league. This included getting a yearly donation of £500 per year from the Clare District Soccer League. Frank remained as Chairman of the Schoolboys League until 1990.
Frank was elected to the Clare District Soccer League as a committee member in 1975 and has been involved in one form or another to this day. In 1981, Frank was elected Registrar of the Clare District Soccer League. He remained as Registrar of the Clare District Soccer League until 1990 when he was elected Chairman. Frank remained as Chairman of the Clare District Soccer League for 11 years and under his leadership soccer in the county reached new heights. Frank also oversaw the purchase and development of the County Grounds in Doora in the 1990’s
