The chairman of the Clare Ladies Football board is praising the commitment and dedication shown by Evan Talty over the last number of years, after he announced his intention to step down from the role of manager of the intercounty squad.
Talty’s decision sees his two year term in charge of the squad come to an end, while he had also worked under previous manager James Murrihy as coach.
In a statement, Lenihan outlined his hopes that there will be plenty interested candidates looking to take over from the Kilmurry Ibrickane man.
Statement from Clare LGFA chairman Sean Lenihan on Evan Talty’s resignation as Clare LGFA manager:
On behalf of Clare LGFA, I want to sincerely thank Evan Talty and his backroom team for the sterling work they did for Clare Ladies Football over the past two to three years. It was with disappointment that I received the news from Evan yesterday that he would be standing down. We were hoping he would stay for another year but fully understand and reluctantly accept his decision after three busy years, two of them as manager.
I saw first-hand the huge time and effort Evan put in to the job and can categorically say that he couldn’t have done any more. He brought a commitment and professionalism to the role that would compare with any county team in the country and all in Clare LGFA appreciate his efforts and wish him well for the future.
In the next week or so, we will start the search for a new manager, and I am confident that there will be significant interest in the post. Evan and his management team have created an extremely positive attitude in the camp and have systems and processes in place that will benefit the new team management. The Clare Intermediate Team has shown that they are able to compete with the best of them and it is no accident that we were knocked out in the last two years by the eventual All Ireland champions, Laois this year and Westmeath the previous year.
I have absolutely no doubt that there is an All-Ireland in the very near future for Clare and therefore expect the new manager position and backroom team to be attractive to a number of interested parties and we wish them well in the season ahead.
