CDSL Committee Line up to remain largely unchanged

The majority of the key positions on the Clare and District Soccer League Committee will remain unchanged for next season.

The nominations deadline ahead of next week’s AGM has passed, with the meeting coming just weeks after a small number of clubs held a meeting in Ennis to discuss difficulties with the CDSL Executive.

Donie Garrihy will remain on as Chairman of the Clare and District Soccer League for next season, having been formally nominated by eight clubs ahead of next Monday’s Annual General Meeting.

There will also be no change for a number of other positions, as secretary Oliver Fitzpatrick, Treasurer Michael McInerney, PRO Gerry Scanlon are the only nominees for those roles.

Shannon Olympic have nominated Donal Kirby to challenge Michael Lydon as Fixtures Secretary, while Leo Murphy has the backing of Avenue United, Inch Crusaders and Manus Celtic to stay on as registrar.  However, Clare FM understands he is not interested in remaining in that role, meaning it will go to one of four other nominees – Michael Lydon, Dave Kerin, Frank Healy or Frank Gormley.

After recent speculation about dis-satisfaction amongst some clubs about the handling of recent incidents, it’s anticipated that a number of issues will be raised at next Monday’s AGM which begins at the West County Hotel at 8:00.
