Clare never led in the game, but were level in the second half.
TJ Reid led the way for the Cats, scoring 1-10, while for Clare Colin Ryan scored 0-9 while Tony Kelly scored the Banner goal.
Kilkenny's Michael Fennelly left the field with injury.
