Cats injury concerns mount ahead of Clare clash

Kilkenny say their mounting level of injuries will not be used as an excuse no matter the result of Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League clash with Clare.

The All-Ireland Champions travel to Ennis this Sunday, minus Jackie Tyrell and Paul Murphy – both corner backs are sidelined with hamstring injuries they picked up in Monday’s victory over Waterford.

The duo join an injury list which already includes the likes of Henry Shefflin, meaning Brian Cody is likely to field a number of inexperienced players this Sunday.

However, selector Martin Fogarty is hopeful that this will help unearth some future key players for the Cats.
