Clare intermediate hurling selector Peter Casey says playing at the grade can be a stepping stone to greater things.

Senior stars such as Tony Kelly, Cathal O'Connell, Paul Conor Ryan and David McInerney all played on the Clare intermediate side before making their breakthrough at senior level, while the Banner won the Intermediate Munster and All Ireland crown in 2011.
The team for Sunday's curtain raiser agains Limerick in Thurles is expected to be dominated by the current U21 squad, as Donal Moloney and his management team look to develop their squad.
