Cardiff into Carling Cup Final

Cardiff City booked their place in the Carling Cup final last night after they beat fellow Championship side Crystal Palace on penalties.

Cardiff won last nights game 1-0 courtesy of an Anthony Gardener own goal.

Palace played more than 40 minutes with just 10 men after Irish defender Paddy McCarthy was shown a second yellow card.

Cardiff keeper Tom Heaton saved two spot-kicks to give the Welsh side a 4-2 win.

Liverpool take a 1-0 lead into the second leg at Anfield against Manchester City.

City are likely to be without Mario Balotelli for tonight’s game.

The club have until 6pm today to decide if they’ll appeal his four match ban.

Balotelli’s agent says the Italian could be forced to leave England after becoming more and more frustrated.
