Busy day of GAA action as pre season competitions get underway

It's a busy day across the country as the provincial pre-season cups swing into gear.

Munster's McGrath Cup begins with two preliminary round ties this afternoon. 

Michael Cussen is back in the Cork midfield for the first time in four years for their meeting with Mary Immaculate. 

While Waterford go up against U-L. 

Clare are once more not competing in this years McGrath Cup as boss Colm Collins focuses his efforts on the Banners National League opener against Wexford on February 1st.

In round one of Leinster's O'Byrne Cup, an experimental Meath side face Westmeath in Mullingar, 

Offaly take on Laois, Kildare play host to Louth, Wexford face D-I-T, Carlow take on U-C-D, and Blessington hosts the meeting of Wicklow and I-T Carlow. 

And Dublin face N-U-I Maynooth at Parnell Park. 

 

Tyrone begin the defence of the Dr. McKenna Cup with a trip to the Athletic Grounds to face Armagh. 

Rory Gallagher begins life as Donegal manager with a meeting with Derry at Owenbeg.

Down take on Cavan, Fermanagh face Queen's and Antrim go up against St. Mary's. 

 

Leitrim start their tilt for three-in-a-row in the FBD Insurance League by facing G-M-I-T in Cloone. 

Mayo face N-U-I-G, Roscommon take on I-T Sligo and, Enniscrone hosts the meeting of Sligo and Galway.
