The 22 year came home first in the field of 43 swimmers a nd took the lead with just over 3 Kilometres to go
The Ennis man finished in a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 15 seconds, over 90 seconds ahead of his closest competitor
Next up for the Clare man is a test event at the World Championships site in Barcelona in June, before he travels to Kazan for the World University Games and then Barcelona again for the World Swimming Championships both in July.
