Shannon's Chris Bryan says he's a step closer to the 2016 Rio Olympics, after two strong performances at the European Swimming Championships in Berlin.

After finishing in 16th position in the 10 kilometre Open Water swim on Thursday, the 24-year-old then came 9th in the gruelling 25 kilometre race there yesterday.
It was his first time to swim in this event at a Major Championships, and Chris' time of over 5 hours and 12 minutes saw him come within four minutes of a medal.
He had struggled to keep up with his rivals in the closing stages, but afterwards Chris was hopeful that he would learn from the test
