Britton claims gold at European championship’s as hehir finishes 52nd

Wicklow’s Fionnuala Britton was crowned European Cross Country champion for the second year in a row.

The 28-year-old is the first athlete to defend her senior women’s title.

Clareman Sean Hehir came home 52 in the men’s senior race.

Staying with Athletics news and Alex O Neill claimed gold in the u13 girls race at the National Novice and Juvenile Cross Country Championships at Adamstown, Co Wexford.

Kevin Mulcaire won silver in the boys u17 also in Wexford.
