Munster Hurling Championship Round Four: Clare: 2-22 – Cork 3-18
Clare have qualified for successive Munster Hurling Finals following a dramatic victory over the Rebels in the final round of group fixtures in the provincial round robin in Cusack Park.
Despite Cork’s Conor Cahalane raising the first green flag of the day after just eight minutes of action, Clare would go on to register nine scorers in the first half alone to lead by 1-13 to 1-08 at the break.
Tony Kelly recorded Clare’s first half major and the Ballyea maestro wasted no time on the restart, in expertly dispatching a penalty to see Clare eight points in front on thirty seven minutes.
The Rebels defiantly rallied in response with Patrick Horgan & Declan Dalton both firing past the best efforts of Eibhear Quilligan to level the tie on 29 minutes.
The sides appeared to settling for stalemate in Cusack Park , however a dramatic last minute long distance winner from Cratloe’s Diarmuid Ryan would see Brian Lohan’s men through to successive Provincial deciders on a full time score of Clare 2-22 – Cork 3-18.
