Brennan To Start Against Cork Despite Fitness Concerns

Gary Brennan has been named to start for Clare today in the county’s Munster Championship clash with Cork.

There had been doubts over the fitness of the Clondegad man, but he is set to line out at Cusack Park this afternoon.

The Clare team named for today’s match shows for changes from that which lost to Limerick in the Banner’s last League outing – this because some players are returning from injury, while michael O’Shea and Enda Coughlan are sidelined with knocks.

Laurence Healy comes in at corner back, with the Ennistymon man starting alongside Kildysart’s Shane McNeilis and Miltown’s Gordon Kelly in the full-backs, ahead of Joe Hayes in Goal.

One change in the half-backs as well, with Martin McMahon of Kilmurry Ibrickane starting alongisde clubmate Declan callinan and Kilrush’s Joe Hayes

Captain Brennan maintain’s his midfield partnership with Coolmeen’s Cathal O’Connor, while Ger Quinlan of O’Currys comes in at centre-forward between Cooraclare’s Rory Donnelly and Shane McGrath of Thomas Davis.

Liscannor’s Alan Clohessy returns at corner forward, alongside Ian McInerney of Kilmurry Ibrickane and Doonbeg’s David Tubridy.

Throw-in is at 3:30.

All Ireland finalists Mayo will host Roscommon at MacHale Park from 4pm with a place in the Connacht final up for grabs.

In hurling Laois have been in impressive form so far in the Leinster championship but will face a major test today when they host All Ireland finalists Galway in Portlaoise.

In Ulster Down and Armagh face off at Pairc Esler.

Both of those throw in at 3:30pm.
