A storming second half performance saw Clare fall just short of overturning Armagh in Cusack Park this afternoon.
Colm Collins side eventually went down by 3-11 to 1-11, with a late goal from Armaghs Tony Kernan sealing the win for his side.
At half time, Clare had trailed by 2-8 to 0-4, having played against the breeze. The Armagh goals came from Kernan and Ethan Rafferty, who was one of 3 Armagh players black carded over the 70 minutes.
The Banner struck 1-5 unanswered in the opening stages of the second half, and cut the gap to just two points.
The goal came after Pat Burke and Podge Collins both conspired to roll the ball into the Armagh net, but Kieran McGeeneys side continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over and led by three with time almost up.
Clare continued to push forward, but Kernans second goal put the result beyond doubt.
Next up for the Banner is a trip to face Limerick in two weeks time.

Tipperary were 4-16 to 3-11 winners at the Gaelic Grounds against Louth
Fermanagh posted a 2-19 to 2-10 win over Limerick at Brewster Park.
Sligo beat Wexford 2-10 to 1-8.
